Porsche Servicing

They are committed to a transparency of pricing for parts and labour, and supply itemized estimates for all work required, keeping customers informed at all times. This provides the peace of mind that only work and costs that have been approved are carried out with correct authority.
Porsche Repair
The BG team take great pride in the quality of workmanship for repairs undertaken. So much so, that work comes with a one year warranty for workmanship. Match this with the fitment of Porsche OE parts and the service rivals, and in some cases (older models) supersedes OPC standards. Various older models have well known achilles heels which BG find progressive solutions for. These problems include: Dual mass flywheel, clutch replacement, HVAC, inlet manifold air leak, 911 cylinder head stud breakage, torque tube rebuild, Flexplate inspection & thrust bearing failure, Porsche engine misfire, 915 gearbox synchro wear, 911 rear anti roll bar mount failure, 944 turbo head gasket failure, MAF - Air Mass failure, sensor re-calibration, Boxster and 996 coil pack replacement, Porsche modification...
Porsche Parts
BG is a member of the Porsche Trade Parts Programme and can source parts from OPC Exeter daily and Bosch Germany with 24 hours. BG also orders from Berlyn Services for OE items. Berlyn offer value for money on OE parts together with a vast amount of Porsche parts experience and are based 20 minutes from our location. Roger Bray Restorations in Exeter is an ideal source for restoration parts and Pelican Parts, USA for obscure or alternative 911 parts. BG only fits OE parts and recognises that the quality of the part is critical to the ongoing reliability of the vehicle, allowing us to provide a warranty on the work completed.
Porsche MOT
MOT testing is a rigorous process to determine roadworthiness for ongoing safety. That accepted, BG recognise that such a rigorous test, if undertaken by a tester without a sympathetic eye to a specialist marque, can lead to unnecessary damage to underside chassis/components, or to misdiagnosis leading to unneccessary and costy repairs. BG offers MOT testing suited to the specialist marques and welcomes caring owners to view the test procedure.
Porsche Restoration
Full and part restoration is offered. BG currently has two 911 projects on the go… One a silver hooped targa which is undergoing full body restoration for a customer, with a deadline of Dec 2009. The second, a Carrera 3.2 race car which is undergoing full rebuild. Third is a 944 turbo endurance race car which is being developed with most parts/mechanisms being either ‘blueprinted’ or progressively engineered for increased reliability and higher performance.
Porsche Rust
Models after 1980 received galvanised chassis and treated body to resist corrosion, by 1984 Porsche were confident of their corrosion treatment and offered a 10 year anti perforation warranty. For older models, this guarantee is long gone but corrosion remains an ongoing problem for some models, depending on their individual history. The 911’s suffer from sill and chassis corrosion. The B-pillars rust from underneath with bubbles forming in the door shuts or rear wings. The kidney bowls are behind the b-posts and, if perforated, represent a structural compromise that will lead to MOT failure and effect shell integrity. 944's are now showing signs of rust with the sills and chassis requiring restoration to pass MOT. BG offers chassis restoration or part restoration with specialist seam welding and fabrication for a high cosmetic finish.
Porsche Pre-Purchase Inspection

From minute scrutiny of bodywork, panel fit and paint finish through to chassis inspection and mechanical inspection with engine leak-down tests available for the extra peace of mind.
It is best to know if any work may be required before you purchase the vehicle as this can assist with the final price you decide with the vendor.
For a full pre-purchase inspection we charge £195+vat which includes a cylinder leak-down test of the engine, a road test and a thorough inspection of the mechanics, electrical systems as well as the service history and title to the vehicle. A written report is supplied. An hpi check is recommended and can be found online at £19.99 and can indicate a previous accident, theft or critically, any outstanding finance.
A part pre-purchase inspection is charged at £150+vat and includes most of the above, excluding the cylinder leak-down test.
In addition, if you have already made your purchase, BG offer a Porsche inspection for any likely work required in the future.
